Objectives
The VICS Center develops and operates a road traffic information system that systematically collects, processes, and edits road traffic information into digital data tailored to the needs of drivers and transmits that data to onboard devices through various communication and broadcasting channels. By providing drivers with accurate information, the VICS Center aims to contribute to the establishment of safe and comfortable road traffic environments with the goal of making the lives of Japanese residents more pleasant and contributing to social and economic development.

Description of business
The VICS Center conducts the following operations in order to achieve the aforementioned objectives.
1. Collecting, processing, and editing road traffic information, and providing it through communication and broadcast channels
2. Maintaining and managing intellectual property rights related to road traffic information systems
3. Promoting the use of road traffic information systems
4. Surveys and research related to road traffic information systems
5. Technology development related to road traffic information systems
6. Accepting contracts related to the operations described in the five items above
7. Collecting information related to road traffic systems in Japan and abroad and interacting with related organizations and groups
8. Other operations required to achieve the objectives of the VICS Center -

The VICS logo contains three hearts that represent real-time information, peace of mind, and safety for drivers and vehicles. It was designed to embody the desire for driving that is leisurely, comfortable, and safe. The blue represents trust and the sky, while the orange represents safety and the sun.

The name “VICS WIDE” encapsulates our ambitions for development in furtherance of a future society in which road travel is safe and leisurely, with the following three items in mind.
• Doubling the amount of information provided via FM multiplex broadcasting, from 50 KB to a maximum of about 100 KB
• Providing new information from sources that include probe vehicle data and emergency warnings
